A one day faculty orientation programme conducted in our institution on 11.12.2017. The resource persons of the faculty orientation programme were Rev.Sr.F.Mary Joyce Baby, Department of English, St.Mary’s College, Thoothukudi in the forenoon session from 9 AM to 12.30 PM) and Rev.Fr.Godwin Rufus, S.J., Assistant Professor, Department of English, Arulanandar College, Karumathur, Madurai in the afternoon session from 1.30 PM to 4.30 PM.
The forenoon session was handled by Rev.Sr.F.Mary Joyce Baby, Department of English, St.Mary’s College, Thoothukudi. She discussed about how the staff members should keep away the wastages of life ,which are as follows:
• Wrong beliefs
• Inferiority complex
She also insisted upon that a teacher must realize their strength is their weakness. Her valuable presence has made great impact among our staff members in preparing them for the forthcoming even semester 2017-18.Her talk was really applaudable and highly commendable, for she had seeded down a lot of motivation among the staff fraternity by imbibing in them the importance of role, place, identity and the value of teacher in the society and as a tutor in preparing the staff both mentally and emotionally to excel in life. The feedback was positive and Good.
The afternoon session was handled by Rev.Fr.Godwin Rufus, S.J., Assistant Professor, Department of English, Arulanandar College, Karumathur, Madurai. The session started with what the word ‘orientation’ meant- it is the movement towards the sun to become brighter and to be more powerful. Then the staff members were updated that each one should make their own decision. And further for a holistic development of any individual, one should develop in all directions ie., UP, DOWN, RIGHT & LEFT as well as INSIDE & OUTSIDE. At the same time the staff members were oriented on how to teach the students to manage and deal with emotions and feelings
